7 Really Good Reasons to Have Your Pet Groomed

1) A groomed dog is a healthier dog!
-Dirty/matted dogs are a breeding ground for bacteria and yeast.
2)Prevent painful, uncomfortable matting from starting!
-When matting occurs it can become extremely painful for your pooch.
3)Prevent ear infections!
-Dirty ears are also a breeding ground for bacteria and yeast.
4)Frequent nail trims help to keep the nails at a healthy and comfortable length for not only the dog but also the owner.
-Overgrown nails can become painful and begin to split and expose the vain.
5)Frequent bathing helps to stimulate the deposit of natural oils throughout the coat.
-Dogs produce a natural oil in their coat which when not bathed enough can make your dog look and feel greasy.
6)Grooming keeps your dogs coat feeling clean and looking shiny.
-A coat that stays clean and shiny is easier to brush and maintain.
7)Dogs with impacted undercoat can not cool themselves as easily and may become over heated in the warm summer months.
-Try our new “FURminator” Shed-Less Treatment!

It’s Flea Season

It’s flea season time. Flea infestations can not only be annoying for both dogs and humans but also very dangerous. Problems caused by fleas may range from mild to severe itching and discomfort to skin problems and infections. Anemia may also result from flea bites in extreme circumstances. Furthermore, fleas can transmit tapeworms and diseases to pets. When dogs are troubled by fleas they scratch and bite themselves, especially in areas such as the head, neck, and around the tail. Fleas normally concentrate in such areas. This incessant scratching and biting may cause the dog’s skin to become red and inflamed. Flea allergy dermatitis is developed by those dogs allergic to flea saliva. In this case, the symptoms previously mentioned are more pronounced. Because of compulsive scratching and biting, the dog may lose hair, get bald spots, exhibit hot spots due to extreme irritation, and develop infections that result in smelly skin. And…..flea infestations in the home can be a nightmare to exterminate.

Be sure to have your dog treated every month from April or May to September or October (depending on weather…warmer=more fleas). You and your dog will be very happy you did!!
